Greco Pizza Makes New Year’s Resolution and Ditches Plastic Straws!
Truro NS – In an effort to support more environmental sustainability initiatives and to reduce our environmental footprint, Grinner’s Food Systems Limited announced they will be phasing out the use of single–use plastic straws in their establishments in 2019.
Greco Pizza will eliminate the use of single-use plastic straws in an effort to be more environmentally conscious. Plastic straws will be phased out in 2019 and replaced with compostable paper straws.
“It is essential that we not only support this growing environmental concern, but that we remain diligent in the fight to protect our environment and contribute positively to the communities we all live and work in,” says Don Moore, President of Grinner’s Food Systems Limited. “We realize that switching to paper straws is just one small step to help reduce our environmental footprint, but it’s a positive step in the right direction.”
“We are continuously focused on waste reduction initiatives and as such we have already started to implement changes within our supply chain that contribute positively to our sustainability goals. In 2019, we will continue to evaluate and monitor the use of plastic bags and packaging in all of the Greco Pizza Restaurants and explore more eco-friendly alternatives that will be introduced in Greco Pizza Restaurants by the end of 2019.”
“It is our hope that our move to eliminate plastic straws will inspire others to follow suit in this global initiative and help eliminate plastics from our landfills and oceans. We need to work together to protect our ecosystem and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.”
